Tying 2 Unmatching Vintage Pieces Together?
I am a horrible decorator. HELP!
Awhile back, I bought a pair of vintage table lamps. They have a brass stand and a big red glass ball for the base. Then I received a vintage sectional (made in ’59) that has a light blue with green tweed fabric covering. I really love both and want to find a way to coordinate together.
I’m still planning on getting shades for the lamps, possibly a large area rug and I just got a little coffee table I’m going to paint. Maybe one of these items could be used to tie the lamps and sofa together? Any suggestions?
I have found that red is an awesome color to do detail work in. Perhaps you could make your main color scheme the light blue and green… and do small things (like the balls on the lamps) in red. Since red would somewhat clash with blue and green, you don’t want to over-do it on the red. Perhaps get some black and white pictures for on the walls that have a small amount of red, blue, and green in them. For example, my living room is brown, tan and black. I have it “trimmed” in red. Red pillows on my couches, some small red vases sitting around, etc. Just an idea. Red is a very loud color, which I like!
